Applied Courseware Technology, Inc., incorporated in
1988, is based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Between 1992-95, the
Company provided highly sophisticated instructional design and courseware
development services using state-of-the-art learning technologies.
In the process, the Company produced several in-house software applications
to automate the complex procedures inherent within instructional
analysis, curriculum design and development, and performance management
methodologies.
The Company’s experience suggested that there
was a great need for a fully integrated software tool that could
analyze, design, plan and distribute enterprise-wide learning solutions
to support employee performance. It was felt that the ideal tool
should use an open architecture, be easily re-configurable, support
multiple departments across an organization and be applicable across
all industry sectors. In 1995 the Company completed a market research
initiative to assess the marketability of this concept.
The research revealed that this type of high-end analytical
tool was desired by organizations where mission critical tasks were
routinely performed and where either system failures or human error
were costly. The need was particularly evident in corporations and
organizations that operated in highly regulated industries such
as aerospace, defence, nuclear and healthcare.
In 2002 ACT completed development of Integreator2 (I2),
a robust, web-enabled, multi-platform database configuration and
usage application. It is extremely easy to use and is expandable
to suite a wide variety of system requirements. At its core, I2
has an open API for which programmers can use to plug-in their own
functionality. I2 can interface with any database supporting JDBC
1, and can leverage the power of the database itself.
ACT is currently focused on building channels
of distribution into the corporate training market in North America
and Europe. This effort will include strategic co-development partnerships
geared for the custom-development of industry-specific versions
of Integrator Professional.
